One of the classic images of the psychedelic era.  The central image is an x-ray of a human hand holding a sea shell (Chambered Nautilus).  The appearance of the Grateful Dead at these shows has only enhanced this poster's popularity.  It is also widely agreed that these were some of the finest shows ever held at the Fillmore. Many say that Miles Davis was in rare form, at the Dead subsequently fed off his performances.

The ori inal/first print poster measures approx.  14" X 21".  A script "W" does not appear at the bottom of this poster, after "No. 227".

The second print poster, an authorized reprint, measures approx.  14" X 21".  A script "W" appears at the bottom of the poster, after "No. 227". This poster was printed no later than 1975.

The original postcard, printed prior to the shows, measures approx.  4 5/8" X  7", and has a calendar of other Bill Graham events on the reverse.

A double postcard was also printed of this image and BG 228, which measures approx. 7" X 9 1/4".  On the reverse of the BG 227 image on this card there is a bulk rate permit, so any BG 227 card with a bulk rate back has been cut from a double card.
