This is one of the classic early Fillmore images, due to the appearance of a very "cheeky" Jerry Garcia photo (courtesy of Herb Greene).  It is also very popular, due to the Grateful Dead & Yardbirds billing.

The original/first print posters for these shows were printed on two different paper stocks (both of which exactly match the paper stocks used to print the original handbills), and to this point, we have identified three different variations of
the original/first print posters.

This original/first print poster (we will call it Type A) was printed on a somewhat coarse/porous paper stock.  It is not smooth to the touch.  This poster measures approx.  13 3/4" x 22 1/2".  This poster is referred to as OP-2 in Eric
King's Guide.

This original/first print poster (we will call it Type B) was printed on a coated index stock which is somewhat flimsy (roughly the same thickness as Type A, but noticeably thinner than the index used for the reprint poster).  It is smooth to the touch.  This poster measures approx.  13 3/4" x 22 1/8".  This poster is referred to as OP-1 in Eric King's Guide.

This original/first print poster (we will call it Type C) was printed on the same paper stock as Type B.  However, it measures approx.  14" x 22 1/2". This poster is not listed in Eric King's Guide.  We are not going to list this poster on the website, but do have one available.  If you are interested in this poster, send us an email or give us a call.

The second print poster, an authorized reprint, was printed on a coated index stock, similar to the stock used for Fillmore originals from mid 1967 through the end of 1968 (which is probably when this poster was printed).  This paper stock is thicker, and more rigid the Type B or C first print.  It measures 13 5/8" x 22 1/8", slightly narrower than the Type B original.  There are no handbills or postcards that match the paper stock used to print these posters.

There are two variations of the original blank back handbills, which were printed prior to the shows.  Both measure approx.  5 1/8" x 8".

The Type A handbill was printed on the same paper stock as the Type A original poster.

The Type B handbill was printed on the same paper stock as the Type B & C original poster.  If you buy a BG 32 handbill from the website, we will send you a Type B.

The postcards (similar in size to the handbills) were also printed on the same stock as the original posters and handbills.  There are those that feel that this is the first time in 1966 that the Fillmore printed postcards prior to the shows.  Seeing that the card paper stock matches the original posters, and that no cards match the reprint posters, we certainly think that theory is viable.  If you buy a postcard on the website, we will send you Type A.  If you would rather have a Type B, than send us an email or give us a call.
