Blues Project

This poster marked the first of the Family Dog shows at the Avalon Ballroom.  It was also the first appearance of the Family Dog motto, "May The Baby Jesus Shut Your Mouth And Open Your Mind".

The original/first print poster was printed on vellum paper stock, and measures approx.  14" x 20".

The second print poster, an authorized reprint, was also printed on vellum stock, but adds the union printing credit (#72) in the lower right corner.  In addition, the notation "5(2)" appears in the lower left corner.  This poster was
most probably printed in 1966.

The third print poster, an authorized reprint, was printed on uncoated index stock. The notation "No.  5-3" appears in the lower right corner.  This poster was most probably printed in 1967, but no later than 1968.

The original handbill was printed prior to the shows on very thin paper.  Three variations exist:

Type A is much larger than standard handbills and measures approx.  12 3/8" x 15 1/2", and was printed in full color matching the poster on white paper. All of these handbills were folded in half by the printer for insertion in a magazine.

Type B measures approx.  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and is printed with black ink on white paper.

Type C also measures approx.  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and is printed with blue ink on white paper.
